Today I tell you how you can make Arduino IOT projects with just drag-and-drop wow that’s amazing for newbies, No programming skills required that is the best ever thing you have with Cayenne myDevice an online IOT dashboard. Cayenne is an online platform where you can make Arduino project without any programming skills just drag and drop and make you Arduino project with this online IOT dashboard.
cayenne is an online platform which helps you to create any Arduino and raspberry project without any programming skills so this is a good thong for those who afraid to write codes. Its standardized connection between Arduino boards like sensors , motors.
cayenne originally only works for Pi’s but now he supported Arduino boards but currently in beta no need to worry I tested it on my Arduino mega with ethernet w5100 shield its work amazing , So now everyone who interested in embedded systems but no knowledge how to writes codes Arduino IOT projects 🙂
I know about Cayenne a few days ago and worked on it and really enjoyed. I thought I share it with you guys 🙂 in this tutorial I only cover overview how cayenne work with Arduino.
How to use Cayenne to make Arduino IOT Projects
In this overview, i tell you guys how you can make any Arduino IOT project with just drag and drop as above image you can see cayenne have very beautiful graphical user-friendly interface, one thing keep in mind you need internet connection to use cayenne there is no any offline platform by cayenne, however, there is app available for iPhone and Android
you can manage you project from app and monitor project as well. I recommend using Arduino Ethernet Shield, WiFi Shield because cayenne needs an internet connection to communicate with Arduino (In other ways you can say Arduino needs an internet connection to communicate with Cayenne so this is IOT ) however you can also use it with USB on PC.
Now we will make our first project with cayenne coding less platform we will make a simple LED project lets start!!!
First of all, you need to create account on myDevices Cayenne it is totally Free Dashboard 🙂
when you complete account creation then it will ask you to choose RespberryPi or Arduino , Select Arduino.
NOTE: If you have an older version installed it may give the error on compiling codings so make sure you have the latest version of Arduino IDE tool.
- Now you need a Wifi or ethernet shield which will be used for uploading code from Cayenne platform.
- Now plug your shield on UNO board I used in this project ethernet shield.
- Connet UNO to PC with USB and follow the instruction that mentions below.
Now next step to move on Cayenne side click next to step 3 and select your Board.
when you select it will pop up with Sketch file you just download the file and upload it to Arduino board with IDE tool this is the only code to upload nothing else now everything will be handled with the cayenne dashboard. When you upload the code cayenne automatically detect your device and redirect you on dashboard where you can easily design your project 🙂
Project with Cayenne
Now simply select the new project to give it a name the new project will be created now we add LED control in it. Click on Add NEW then Select Device/Widget
Now Select Light option n Actuators section as shown in above image and this will appear see below
Now you have to select light switch in the actuator properties and select any Digital pin which you like to connect with LED see above image I selected D8 which means Digital pin8. That’s it !! yes we Done with LED Arduino IOT project 🙂
when you click on Light switch LED will ON and when you click again on the light switch it will OFF.
Hope you guys like my work if you have any Question or you need any help just let me now by commenting below I will provide you hope to that you can make Arduino IOT projects 😛
Share it with everyone to appreciate me stay tuned for more Arduino IOT Projects 🙂
